First corner shunt ends Justin's race in Denver
Justin's Grand Prix of Denver was all over at Turn 1 on the opening lap when he was taken out by another car. After starting in 5th Justin ran side by side between team-mate A.J. Allmendinger and Forsythe's Mario Dominguez down to the first corner. In what would normally have been a well-judged move he eased out of this Lola sandwich at the last minute and turned into the corner, only to be collected by PKV's Cristiano da Matta who had taken an ambitiously tight inside line to get by Team Australia's Alex Tagliani. The PKV car clambered over the back of Justin's Lola, in turn punting him into Cristiano's team-mate Jimmy Vasser. The damage to Justin's car was too severe for him to continue. The race was won by Sebastien Bourdais, followed by Mario Dominguez, with A.J. bringing home the final podium position for RuSPORT.
Justin was bitterly disappointed not to have been able to continue his championship battle at Denver, and he'll have to wait another fortnight to get back in action at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. "I was on the racing line and someone came down on me and then Cristiano (da Matta) came over me. It's really unfortunate that I got caught in the middle of it. I thought the Intel car had a good shot at bringing home a top result. We're going to regroup and look for a better race in Montreal."
