Dominguez Fast, Hunter-Reay Penalized in Provisional Qualifying
Mario Dominguez, #55 Herdez/Lola/ Ford-Cosworth
Mario on qualifying: " I am pleased with our result today but up until the last second I thought we would be even happier. Sebastian did a good job out there. It's not easy muscling a 750 HP machine around the tight city streets, but it is a challenge that I really enjoy, I really like this track. We have a good car, the Herdez Competition crew and my engineer Mike Cannon have done a great job, rolling the car out quick from the first session forward and I think we will be even faster tomorrow. I am very happy with the job Bridgestone is doing, as always tires are very crucial here and they have been very consistent."
Ryan Hunter-Reay, #4 Herdez/Lola/Ford-Cosworth
Ryan on qualifying: "It was a mediocre day for us. We struggled to find front grip all day long. We were sixth in qualifying but the Champ Car officials wrongly penalized us with the red flag and as a result we lost our fastest lap, which sent us to ninth. I spun and kept going but I guess they thought I had stalled it so they threw the red. Unfortunately their mistake cost us three positions. Mario did a great job today and we will look to his car to improve our results tomorrow."
Keith Wiggins, Co-Owner/Managing Director: "Mario did a great job out there today. Obviously we are a bit disappointed that we lost the provisional pole on the last lap, but Sebastian obviously did a good job out there as well. It was still a good effort and we are looking forward to having another go at it tomorrow. We were hoping to get Ryan quicker, it's a shame the stewards made a bad call which cost him his quick time. We will definitely be following up with them on the call."
