Detroit, Mich. (June 17, 2000) - Argentine rookie Norberto Fontana posted his fastest time of the weekend during this afternoon's final qualifying for the Tenneco Automotive Grand Prix of Detroit, circuiting the 2.346-mile temporary street circuit at 111.913 mph (one minute, 15.466 seconds).

Norberto Fontana: "I'm happy, but I'm not happy. We improved our speed quite a bit, but so did everyone else. The car was a lot better this afternoon than it was this morning, but I still have some understeer on the exit of corners. Tomorrow morning we'll see how the car runs on full tan ks and focus on finishing this race."
