"It's been a good, clean weekend for us. The Marlboro car was good right off the truck so it was just a matter of getting everything right. We didn't have to make any big changes; the car has been very consistent. I'm very happy to be starting up front. Qualifying first and second speaks a lot about the preparation of the Team coming to this race. Hopefully, I can break my unlucky streak in Toronto."

-- Gil de Ferran, Marlboro Team Penske, #1 2001 Marlboro Honda Reynard
-- Pole position, 57.703 sec.

"Yesterday, I didn't get to run the second session so we lost some ground and were struggling a bit this morning. Things we were supposed to test yesterday we had to do today. Gil (de Ferran) helped us out, and in the end everything went well for Marlboro Team Penske. It's my teammate's (Gil de Ferran - qualified on the pole) day today and I hope everything goes well for both of us tomorrow."

-- Helio Castroneves, Marlboro Team Penske, #3 2001 Marlboro Honda Reynard
-- Qualified second, 57.767 sec.
