Team Kool Green And Dario Franchitti Wrap Up Preseason Tests

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Dario Franchitti and Team KOOL Green wrapped up their final test of the preseason on Sunday, February 24 at the 1.5-mile Homestead Miami Speedway oval. It was an extended weekend as Franchitti and the #27 team tested the 2.17-mile road course on Thursday and Friday, February 21 & 22. Franchitti completed 316 trouble free-miles on the road course posting a best lap of 67.9 seconds, while Sunday's oval test was limited to just 27 miles because of mechanical problems.

Team KOOL Green headed to the Homestead road course looking to build on last month's test there by teammate Paul Tracy. The crew performed ballast tests (adding weight to the front and rear of the car) on Thursday and also concentrated on the rear suspension. On Friday, the crew continued working on the mechanical grip of the car and posting consistent lap time times. The team had a long checklist to complete on Sunday, as it was Franchitti's first oval test this year. But mechanical problems hampered the test and did not allow them to accomplish many of their goals.

"We really learned a lot on the road course those first two days," said Kyle Moyer, Team KOOL Green team manager. "Dario and Allen (McDonald, race engineer) are working well together and we accomplished our project list. Unfortunately we can't say the same about Sunday. We wanted to try some things on the oval that we weren't able to, but sometimes you have to take the bad with the good."

With preseason testing complete for Team KOOL Green and the start of the season less than two weeks away, Moyer says he can sense a change in the team.

"The guys are starting to get excited about the season opener in Monterrey," said Moyer. "There is a buzz in the shop as the crews finish preparing the cars. It's been a busy winter and everyone at Team KOOL Green is looking forward to getting started on a successful season."

The #27 Team KOOL Green crew now heads back to Indianapolis to finalize preparations for the CART FedEx Championship Series season opener in Monterrey, Mexico on March 10.
