Dario Franchitti and Team Kool Green Test Fontana Road Course

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Following his second place finish in Monterrey, Mexico last weekend, Dario Franchitti and Team KOOL Green went right back to work Wednesday and Thursday (March 13-14) testing a 16-turn 1.5-mile layout on the California Speedway road course. Franchitti completed 202 miles with a quick time of 60.2 seconds during the test.

Wednesday got off to a wet start as rain showers limited Franchitti to just 55 miles. Team KOOL Green took advantage of the limited track time to re-check the car in preparation for the Long Beach Grand Prix. Franchitti and the team then spent Thursday trying to find more aerodynamic grip, testing a new front wing from Reynard that showed marked improvement, and working with Honda on traction control.

"Now that CART has legalized traction control, Honda is working really hard to develop the best system," said Kyle Moyer, team manager. "Honda learned some things in Monterrey and we were able to apply some of that knowledge during the test. We will have another chance to work with the traction control before Long Beach with Paul Tracy (on the road course at Firebird), so I think we will be in good shape."

"I'm really proud of my Team KOOL Green crew," said Franchitti. "They have been working hard all winter and their preparations showed in the first race. We qualified and raced well then came straight to Fontana where the KOOL car performed flawlessly. It shows you that we are not going to rest on our podium finishes but continue to find ways to make the car and the team better."

The #27 Team KOOL Green crew heads back to its Indianapolis shop to begin preparations for the single day March 27 test on the oval at Homestead-Miami Speedway while the #26 team prepares for a single day test March 25 at Firebird International Raceway.
