CHAMPCAR/CART: Da Matta, Servia Fontana race notes

Cristiano da Matta, ...

Cristiano da Matta, #97 Pioneer Electronics/WorldCom/Toyota-Reynard
On the Accident:
"I knew I had hit something, and I lost all control, basically I was nothing more than a passenger. It turns out it was Paul's pop-off valve, and it broke my suspension. At that point the only thing you can do is pray to be all right."

Oriol Servià, #96 Telefónica/Toyota-Reynard
On the Accident:
"Tony's engine blew and I could not see anything. I was just thinking to myself "please don't let anyone be near me." I thought I might be able to make it through if no one was to close. As it turns out, Michael was next to me, which I could not see and I move to the left a little, and Michael moved up a little, and boom we made contact. Neither one of us could see each other, there is really nothing we could do. It is such a shame. I am incredibly disappointed. This has been a good year for me and for the team, and I really hate to see it end this way. I just want to thank Cal for taking the risk of giving me a chance as a rookie; he has been very, very good to me. Also, my team has been incredible. They have done a fantastic job all year, and I can't thank them enough."
