Mario Domínguez - Driver
"This is a very demanding track... very particular in the way you need to drive it with the four distinct corners. We were making pretty good progress during this morning's practice session but for some reason we just weren't as fast during qualifying this afternoon. We'll keep working at it with the goal of having a good car for the race tomorrow."
Fast Facts * The Rockingham 500 marks Domínguez's 15th start in the CART FedEx Championship Series.
The Herdez Competition #55 entry is carrying slightly different livery this weekend in support of Grupo Herdez's launch of the Doña Maria brand in the UK. Herdez Competition Business Manager Kevin Lee described the change: "We've replaced Herdez on the sidepods of the car this weekend with Doña Maria to support Herdez in the UK launch of this authentic Mexican food line which includes salsa, tortilla chips and meal kits."
As the Sure for Men Rockingham 500 is a two-day event, Saturday is race day in England. The final 30-minute warm up session will begin at 9:30am local time and the cars will roll to the grid at 12:45pm for a 1:30pm start. Local "English Summer Time" is five hours ahead of Eastern Time in the US.
