MI-JACK CONQUEST RACING TESTS FORMER F3000 DRIVER ENRICO TOCCACELO
Indianapolis, Indiana, August 4, 2006 -- Mi-Jack Conquest Racing is testing Italian racer Enrico Toccacelo during the Champ Car Open Test in Elkhart Lake today. The 27 year-old Toccacelo joins the team's regular driver, Dutchman Charles Zwolsman, for the second half of the two-day test which got underway yesterday.
"We thought it would be a great opportunity during the Open Test in Elkhart Lake this week to give Enrico the chance to drive one of our cars. It will give us the occasion to get to know him better," says Eric Bachelart, co-owner of the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team.
Enrico Toccacelo, was runner up to Vitantonio Liuzzi in the 2004 FIA F3000 International Championship where he scored one win, three second-place finishes as well as one pole position. More recently, he participated in the majority of the A1GP races for Team Italy and was the Friday Test Driver for the Minardi Formula 1 Team in 2005.
"This is an excellent opportunity for me to show my skills. I would like to thank Eric Bachelart and the whole Conquest Team for giving me this chance," expressed Toccacelo. "I am looking forward to my first experience in a Champ Car and I hope it will be a good one."
The Italian race-car driver drove go-karts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, capturing 35 wins and a regional championship. Before going to F3000 where he competed from 2001 to 2004, he drove in the Formula Renault Campus Italian Championship, finishing fourth overall, the F3 Italian and German Championships and he also took on the challenge of the Super Touring Car European Championship. In 2005, before signing on as the third driver for the Minardi Formula 1 Team, Toccacelo participated in the World Series by Renault Championship and picked up one win and 2 pole positions.
