Mcdonald's / Lilly driver Bourdais 3rd in provisional qualifying lineup; Pacificare driver Junqueira sidelined by gearbox after only two laps in provisional qualifying for US Bank Grand Prix of Cleveland.

SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS, #2 McDonald's / Lilly Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "My last lap was my best and I'm pretty happy to put the McDonald's / Lilly car third but I think we could have been second. On the last lap I arrived behind Paul and he was fighting with Michel in the middle of the track and it slowed me down. The lap time wouldn't have put me on pole but I would have been P2 definitely (position two). I like this track, you can push hard and it's interesting. The problem here in qualifying is when cars go on the grass they are carrying some dust back on the line and then you spin also so it just gets worse and worse. It's the same for everybody though. My biggest problem is to put a complete lap together. To work hard corner after corner and then screw up on the last corner. It's not easy to put a complete lap together. That's my biggest problem right now."

* NOTES: Will be his first race here... He earned three poles (2-road course; 1-oval) and two wins in eight events so far. (He started in second place in England and fifth in Long Beach.) Has won a total of five bonus points this season (Friday & Saturday in St. Pete; Saturday in Monterrey, Saturday and Sunday in Germany)...He is currently ranked 7th in the point standings with 53 points.

BRUNO JUNQUEIRA, #1 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone: "At the end of the second timed lap (of allowed 15) the gearbox broke. It was a good lap that would have been a 58 which was probably good enough for second at the time and the tires weren't even up to temperature yet. The car was obviously good because we were P1 (position 1) after the first session and we were going to fight to put the PacifiCare car on pole so it's a shame."

* NOTES: It will be his third race here... Started eighth and was in fourth place when his engine failed and he retired in 13th place in 2002. Started 16th and retired in 23rd place after contact with Christian Fittipaldi entering the pits in 200...Is currently in second place in the point standings with 95 and is only FIVE behind leader Tracy who has 100.

* TEAM NOTES: The team has won TWO races here (Michael Andretti 1991; Mario Andretti 1988) and FOUR POLES (da Matta 2002; Michael Andretti 1989; Mario Andretti 1984, 1983) as well as NINE PODIUM FINISHES (2nd - Mi. Andretti 1992, 1998; Ma. Andretti 1989; Mansell 1994), (3rd - Ma. Andretti 1986; Mansell 1993; Mi. Andretti 1999).

ON TAP FOR TOMORROW: The first practice session will take place from 2:45-3:45 PM and final qualifying will begin at 8:20 PM PT. SPEED Channel will televise final qualifying live beginning at 8:00 PM ET.
