A nerve breaking race for Neel Jani in Cleveland and the first podium!

Neel Jani, in his fifth race of the Champcar series, made it to his first podium! In an exciting thrilling race, Neel kept a cool head and finished third after having started from 11th place.

Neel Jani said after a hard fought race, "It was one of the most crazy races I have ever driven and it was great to finish in 3rd position. In Las Vegas, Long Beach and Houston we were fighting for a podium where mechanical failures stopped me, so this long awaited podium was sweet."

In spite of an encouraging 5th place in the first qualifying, Neel could only start the race from 11th. "A red flag in the dying moments of the second qualifying robbed us of a better grid position" said Neel Jani.

The race was all about concentration, strategy and a fighting spirit. "In the corners the car was well balanced, but on the straights we lacked the needed speed," he explained. Due to a risky but perfect team strategy, a fuel saving driving style was necessary to make it to the finish line. "At certain stages of the race I was running last and on top of that I had a fuel leak, so I was really worried about fuel saving! Towards the end of the race the reward of keeping cool paid off!"

Coming weekend there is the next race in Mont-Tremblant (Quebec, Canada), where Neel Jani and PKV hope to be successful again.
