JOURDAIN JR. RETIRES EARLY IN CLEVELAND

Herdez backed driver Michel Jourdain Jr. retired early in the Grand Prix of Cleveland, after spinning on lap three of the 90-lap race.

Michel Jourdain Jr., Car #19 Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "After attempting to pass Memo Gidley, I spun. I tried to use third gear, but it broke and this caused 4th gear to break as well. Then the gear lever did not work. I was parked at the end of the main straight and the CART officials asked me to get out of the car. We had to retire the car because of this problem."

Antonio Marron, Motorsports Director of the Herdez/Payton-Coyne Racing Team: "This was an unfortunate accident. Michel (Jourdain Jr.) tried to pass Gidley and hit the cones. This caused the nose to break and the gear box broke as well."
