</pre> Franchitti Leads Honda Qualifiers

Dario Franchitti led the Honda contingent during today's final round of qualifying for the Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland. Franchitti, who qualified his back-up car after an electrical fire damaged his primary car yesterday morning, spun in the morning practice session, damaging the rear of the car. He lost time as the car was repaired on pit lane and was only able to run the last minutes of the session. In the afternoon, he improved on his qualifying position by five spots, and more than a second over yesterday's provisional time. Franchitti's Team KOOL Green team-mate, Paul Tracy, was not able to improve on his qualifying time and will start from the 11th position.

Michael Andretti secured the fifth position in final qualifying. After struggling in Toronto, Andretti appears more comfortable in the #39 Honda Lola on the bumpy Burke Lakefront Airport circuit as he has been running strongly in the top ten all weekend.

Mo Nunn Racing driver Tony Kanaan missed the set-up for the afternoon after running in 8th in the morning session. This, coupled with the Brazilian only being able to get one clear lap in traffic, put him sixth on the final starting grid.

Fernandez Racing's Adrian Fernandez and Shinji Nakano continue to struggle finding balance and grip. The pair will start side by side tomorrow from the 17th and 18th positions.

Sunday's race, round 9 of the CART FedEx Championship Series, will be televised live on CBS at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Dario Franchitti (#27 Team KOOL Green Honda):"We've had a great car all weekend even though we've had limited track time because of the fire we had yesterday morning and then the spin this morning cost us time with having to repair things. I actually felt that there was more in the car than what I got out of it, I was maybe a bit too conservative. Tomorrow's 115 lap race is going to be very physical, it's always tough here."
