Mario confident for success at Cleveland
Record Setter: Dominguez made history recently when he broke Michel Jourdain Jr's record of consecutive top-ten finishes. Dominguez earned his eighth consecutive top-ten finish earlier this season in Milwaukee, the most by a Mexican driver.
Pit Stop: Champ Car's exclusive tire supplier and presenting sponsor, Bridgestone, will be hosting the Bridgestone Presents Champ Car Night in Cleveland's historic warehouse district on Wednesday, June 30th, from 5:00 -10:00 p.m. on West 6th Street between St. Clair and Lakeside. Mario Dominguez will be on hand from 7:00 -- 9:00 to sign autographs. Fans and media can test their coordination by changing a tire on one of the Herdez Competition Lolas, which will be at the street party throughout the evening.
Ohio Native/Kent State Alumni: The team's shock absorber specialist Dave Darrow hails from Kent, Ohio. A graduate of Field High and a Kent State Alumni, Dave builds all of the shocks for Herdez Competition and is a member of the over-the-wall crew, he changes the inside rear tire on the #55 car driven by Mario Dominguez. Darrow began his racing career at a local karting track in Kent.
Mario's History at Cleveland: 2004 will be Mario's third race in a Champ Car at Cleveland. His best results at the track came in 2003 when he started eighth and finished fifth.
Mario on Cleveland: "We had a good car in Cleveland last year, we finished in the top five and I expect to do well this year. Cleveland is a great track for the drivers, since it is wide open without the walls; it really gives us the opportunity to "hang it out." There really is no limit at Cleveland; it is wide and fast with a couple of tough corners and a bit bumpy, but lot of fun. The nice thing about the airport is it really gives fans the opportunity to see everything happening on the track, which is pretty unusual for a road course. The next few weeks are going to be extremely important for the championship. It will be very important to maximize every opportunity and that is what I intend to do."
