"Overall the session went okay; we've improved quite a bit. (My engineer) Brian Ma made some good changes to the car. We ended up having a better package for the last session but I was blocked by all of these guys, especially Adrian Fernandez. We would have improved quite a bit if we hadn't been blocked. The car was actually much better than what the time showed. We will be okay for tomorrow."
Roberto Moreno - Driver, Car 4
"I was down a half a second on my best lap of the first stint when I caught up with Bruno Junquiera on the last three corners; he was going really slowly and it just ruined my last timed lap of that stint. The second part of qualifying, we didn't get the tire pressures exactly the way we wanted them so we really just missed it there. I've got a quick car and my health is coming back so I'm not overly worried. We have a car to start much higher up the grid but we just didn't make it there because of the traffic. We'll just wait and see what tomorrow brings! "
Thursday's schedule was adjusted to allow for the provisional qualifying session to take place in daylight. It was followed later in the day by two additional practice sessions; the first at dusk when the Musco lighting systems were tested and the second timed to approximate the start time of the race on Saturday night.
Moreno has five previous starts at Cleveland including his pole to victory effort in 2000.
Dominguez has one Champ Car start at Cleveland (2002; start 13th, finish 17th), and one additional start while in the now-defunct Dayton Indy Lights series (1999; start 17th, finish 9th).
At least one Herdez Competition driver has placed in the top ten in each of the first eight events (including four top-fives), setting a new team mark.
Live audio of the CART Champ Car World Series is available for qualifying on Friday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET and for the US Bank Presents The Cleveland Grand Prix on Saturday, July, 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
