CHAMPCAR/CART: Cleveland: Friday quoteboard

Sebastien Bourdais #1 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "It was a great lap, but I wish I could have done it a little earlier, just talked about it with PT, and the first run, I don't know if he made a mistake or tried to get out of the way with Cristiano. I just run into them on the last two corners, so stopped that lap and the next one because it was the last corner, so I try again really didn't put another one after that, and second run, a Rocketsport car spun in front of me, same thing, last corner and I said, boy, that's it, going to be really difficult from now on. And then was able to re-collect a little bit myself and just try again, two last laps and it was -- the last one was very clean, but the front tires starting to give up a little bit so I was very intent not to over drive it. Really feels like these Bridgestone tires this year are a little bit better; definitely more grip. I think the guys at the track did a good job to put these curbs on the last corner and in the last Chicane. That's definitely a good thing because it used to be a real mess. Now it's fair for everybody, the track is the same for ever lap and you don't have dirt on the track anymore. It's good, I am pretty happy with the McDonald's car right now."

A.J. Allmendinger #7 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "It was okay -- I'd have to agree with Paul, I think both our cars are working the same. And he said the same thing, put on the reds and I went a bit faster but it was really lap to do so I was pleased after the pre-qualifying session which is our first dry session definitely. The Forsythe car is very close. I think we just keep plugging away at it. On the blacks the car is really good. Reds we need to fine tune it a bit better. But overall, I am pleased with so far how today went and the whole Forsythe team is doing a great job, and just trying our best to keep the momentum going and keep up there."

Paul Tracy #3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "The Forsythe car has been working good. It was a little bit frustrating to be standing there watching the monitor with five seconds to go and then see yourself go from first to third as the last two cars pass by the line, but the car was good, you know, the first set of tires we ran were blacks and I did a really good lap time, kind of stepped the mark for everybody. Then decided to go to red for the second stint and my car went out of balance on the reds. I ended up -- the car didn't want to accept the reds, I just lost the balance of the car. So that was a little bit frustrating because I felt that with reds we should have improved maybe 3, 4/10, but didn't improve anything at all. So overall pretty happy about it."

Bruno Junqueira #2 Newman/Haas Racing Ford-Cosworth/Bridgestone/Lola -- "I'm impressed with the lap that Sebastien did. Apart from that I feel we are pretty close with everybody else. The car was good. On the second set I had to slow down twice for slower traffic and didn't ever put together a perfect lap. We'll see if we can make some improvements for final qualifying and improve our starting position."

Oriol Servia #6 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone - "The Gulfstream -- PKV Racing team is in better shape after this qualifying session than we have been in the last few races, so that is good. The car felt good in the rain in the morning and it felt good this afternoon when it was dry. I think we are better than the time sheets show. I think we should be fourth or fifth, but toward the end of the session I got into traffic on every lap. We are still far from where we want to be. Sebastien is the target and he almost a second ahead of us, but we have a good idea of what we need to do to improve the car for tomorrow."

Alex Tagliani #15 Aussie Vineyards Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "Today was a pretty good day. We had some issues with the car, but we know what they are and they're not unfixable, so that's the positive thing and hopefully by tomorrow morning we will have them fixed and will be a lot quicker. Here in Cleveland the car is definitely a lot easier to drive, so that's a good thing. We are definitely headed in the right direction."

Will Power #5 Aussie Vineyards Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone - "At the moment it's probably more me rather than the car, because I've only done a handful of laps here. This is my first time in Cleveland so I'm getting more familiar with the circuit. Overall, the car felt pretty good and it's definitely something we can work with. We won't have to make many big changes. We will think about it overnight, and I will sleep on me learning more about the track, and have a quick day tomorrow."

Katherine Legge #20 Bell Micro Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "I was disappointed with the way I went today because I didn't think I got everything out of the Bell Micro -- PKV Racing car. The car was faster than I drove it. Oriol did a very good job and it shows how fast our cars are. We have a few problems, but I think I suffered a little because of the lack of dry practice this morning. I am still learning the track. It is a difficult track because there are no real sight lines or landmarks on the circuit. The Bell Micro -- PKV Racing team did a great job preparing the car. They have worked hard all week getting things ready and I think with some more track time and a few changes to the car we can move up the grid in final practice."

Mario Dominguez #19 Sonny's Bar-B-Q Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone -- "I think we showed improvement throughout the qualifying session and at the end of the session our times started to drop. The morning session was wet and we didn't get up to speed - parts of the track were wet the whole session. The track is very demanding for all the drivers - especially at the end of the race. Tomorrow we'll get additional track time under our belt and hopefully move up on the starting grid. We need to keep working together as a team and improving this weekend."

Nicky Pastorelli #8 Bavaria City Racing/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone - "I think that things are going ok. We did not get the result that we wanted today, but I did not have much time on the track to really learn it with this morning being so wet. The #8 Bavaria City Racing/Rocketsports car is not bad, I think that we can definitely improve the car and on my driving for tomorrow and we will have a better result."

Tonis Kasemets #18 Flexovit Abrasives/Rocketsports Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone - "I am feeling good in the #18 Flexovit Abrasives/Rocketsports car. Everything feels good and we have been working on different set-ups today. I feel that we are moving in the right direction and that tomorrow is going to be a better day for us."
