PAUL TRACY (#1 Indeck Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"This feels great (about earning his first pole this season). We have had a good weekend, the car has been quick every session. Everything was just timed perfectly today. We waited a bit before going out in hopes to get a clear track. I had five good laps, then the red flag came out, it worked out perfectly for us. The Indeck car and Bridgestone tires are real good, I look forward to tomorrow."
JUSTIN WILSON (#34 Mi-Jack Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"I am very pleased with our result today. We have been quick most of the weekend and the Mi-Jack car is good. We are really making great progress as a team, each weekend we are getting stronger and stronger."
SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS (#2 McDonald's Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"Today was not good. I made a bad judgment call during this morning requesting a change on the McDonald's car. It was a mistake because I did not like the car at all this afternoon and we still ran into problems with the red flag coming out. However, the only one to blame is myself. It is how it is, but I guess it could be worse."
A.J. ALLMENDINGER (#10 BG Products/Red Bull Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"I'm happy and still a little disappointed because the car was better. I don't think I could have beat (pole sitter) Paul (Tracy), but I could have contended for the front row. The car was really good and I was just trying to challenge it even more. I got greedy and lost it. I really can't complain though because I know the car is good for the race. It doesn't matter too much where you start (at Cleveland); you just have to get through Turn 1. I'm very pleased with this effort and with the team how the team's working."
ALEX TAGLIANI (#8 Johnson Controls Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
The No. 8 Johnson Controls was running well today in qualifying. It was better on old tires, but was inconsistent in over the bumps on new tires. We need to work on the handling and grip of the car on new tires, but overall the Rocketsports team is pleased with a top-five starting position for tomorrow's race.
BRUNO JUNQUEIRA (#6 PacifiCare Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"The last lap was a mega lap. I just needed to complete the last two corners before the red flag came out. It was frustrating not to get a lap without traffic. Based on the telemetry the lap looked like it could have put us P2, which is much better than P6, but it's a long race with three stops. We'll try to put the PacifiCare car in the top three and fight for the win."
MICHEL JOURDAIN JR. (#9 Gigante Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"We improved the Gigante car a lot from yesterday, but we still have room for improvement. I'm happy with the car at the moment though and am confident that with a few minor changes the car will be better for tomorrow. The only thing I need to focus on is making it through the Turn 1 on the first lap. After that it's a long race and a lot can happen. Besides, I enjoy watching Fourth of July fireworks and I know the best place to see them is from the podium."
JIMMY VASSER (#12 Gulfstream Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"Conditions were tough with the wind picking up and the gear ratio we had. We thought we had a better car than that. We have been fast the whole weekend and to place ninth after that is very disappointing. We'll have to make the best out of it and see what we can do from here tomorrow afternoon."
MARIO HABERFELD (#5 Cummins Ford-Cosworth/Reynard/Bridgestone)
"I am satisfied with the result. It is my best qualifying of the season and I am up beat about tomorrow."
ROBERTO GONZALEZ (#21 NII Holdings, Inc. Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone)
"I was hitting the rev limiter quite a bit in the high-speed section before the chicane. That, and the fact that you are dealing with a headwind, makes the car pretty difficult to handle. So the drivability of the car was down due to the windy conditions, but traffic came into play as well. On my fastest lap at the end, I think we were up five tenths, but I got caught up behind a slower car and then the red/checkered came out. It's disappointing for sure. My PKV Racing team has a good car for me this weekend, so we'll have to make the best out of the qualifying effort."
