Securing the 20th career Champ Car pole position, Paul Tarcy said "It feels great. Its been a good weekend so far. We've been quick in every session ... on my 1st run I decided to wait - it can be so hard at the end to get a clean lap with cars on the grass, dirt on the track - I found a clear five lap run and got my fastest time just before the red flag was brought out ... great timing!". Asked about his tires, Paul had this to say, "My Bridgestone Tires were good today, and I have good tires for the race tomorrow."

Responding to a question about the number of spins at the chicane, Paul said "that first corner is tricky and fast - with a big bump - and at around 140 mph and in 5th [gear] everyone is trying to go through as fast as possible ... if you don't get that first corner right you'll never get a great lap, so that's why there has been so much excitement there today!"

Tracy qualified in first place 'Pole Posiiton' with a flying lap time of 57.546 / 131.749 mph. This pole is Tracy's 20th career Champ Car pole position.

Patrick Carpentier 7 Indeck Forsythe Racing
Lola/Ford

Patrick was clearly not happy with today's results in Cleveland, "Not a good day for me. Not a good day at all. I had that big spin on the first corner and was glad we stayed on the grass - but I just didn't put it together today ... Too long to put in a quick lap, and when I eventually was going for it, the the red flag came out.

Patrick qualified 7th with a lap time of 58.353 / 129.926 mph.

Rodolfo Lavin 3 Corona Forsythe Racing
Lola/Ford

Rodolfo was frustrated by not getting a clear lap the whole session, "I was making room but when I went for my fast laps, I was catching the car ahead and that was stopping me getting the best time. We had a slight understeer into turn 3 earlier on and made a change, and the higher winds this afternoon made affected the car in a corner also. But mainly I really cross not have have foun d the space to get a quick lap - its harder on this track than molst to do that".

Rodolfo qualified 15th with a lap time of 59.360 / 127.722 mph.
