Forsythe Teammates Tracy and Dominguez Running Hot in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- June 24, 2005 - Forsythe Championship Racing teammates Paul Tracy (#3 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) and Mario Dominguez (#7 INDECK Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone) posted the second and third-quickest times in today's first round of Qualifying at the Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by US Bank, despite encountering challenges near the very end of the 35-minute session.
"The car was quick on the Reds (soft-alternate Bridgestone tires) and we should have had the pole" commented Tracy after the session. "On my next to last lap I had just cooled down my tires and brakes and had clear track so I was laying down a quick one, but I came into the back chicane and found one of the corner-marking tires had been kicked out onto the track. I clipped it with my front wing and broke it, so that was that. A bit unfortunate, but we'll be back tomorrow with a strong car and see what we can do."
Teammate Dominguez had a different issue arise on his final laps of the session.
"We had a little understeer on the first stint but the crew made some adjustments and it was perfect when I came back out on the soft Bridgestone tires" said Dominguez. "I was on a really quick lap at the end when I came up on Jimmy (Vasser) who was going slowly in the middle of the track. I had to slow down and thought I might get one last lap but then the Red Flag came out and that ended the session. But the car is very good so I'm looking forward to tomorrow."
Final Qualifying gets underway at 2pm ET on Saturday in Cleveland, while the Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by US Bank gets underway at 2pm ET on Sunday, June 26th.
