Vasser's History at Burke Lakefront Airport:

Two of Vasser's eight Champ Car pole positions were won on the airport, his first came during his Championship year, 1996 and he won the pole again in 1998. In his ten previous starts, he has qualified in the top-ten three times, including last year. He has earned six top-ten finishes, his best finish came in 1995 when he finished third, last season he finished sixth.

Record Setter:

Vasser's 1998 pole position time of 56.417 seconds at the speed of 134.385 still stands as the track record. Vasser will go for the pole again this weekend in his 11th Cleveland Grand Prix.

Mid-Ohio Test:

Vasser spent Tuesday testing at Mid-Ohio. The American Spirit crew took Vasser's car to a seven post shaker rig last week and applied what they learned on the shaker rig to the car at Mid-Ohio. Vasser commented on the test, "It was a successful test for us in terms of development. We had a very extensive test plan, we had a lot to evaluate coming of the shaker and I am really pleased, my engineers did a good job. The test certainly helped us prepare for the Mid-Ohio event, but even better we can apply our developments to the rest of the season."

Team USA:

American Spirit Team Johansson will enter the only All-American line-up in weekend's 4th of July event. Vasser's teammate is fellow American and Champ Car rookie, Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Vasser on the Burke Lakefront Airport and Cleveland Grand Prix:

"Representing the United States on the 4th of July while driving for a team called American Spirit is really cool. I think the fans will be behind Ryan and I on Friday night, racing under the lights at Cleveland should be spectacular. I have been looking forward to this event all year; it will be a big weekend for American Spirit for sure. It is a great racetrack; its fun for the driver, the wide track allows us to hang it out there. I can't wait."
