Joe Chrnelich to Speak at Sports Business Forum in Portland

INDIANAPOLIS (January 18, 2005) -- Champ Car Executive Vice President of Development, Government Affairs & Planning Joe Chrnelich will be among the panelists speaking at the Sports Business Forum put on by the Portland Business Alliance on January 19.

Portland is the nation's largest city with only one major traditional sport franchise, however, it is a city that has and continues to attract major sporting events. The Champ Car World Series has long been a part of the sports scene in Portland recording the first official Champ Car race in the record books taking place in 1909 and has conducted races since 1984 at Portland International Raceway.

Chrnelich will join representatives from the NBA's Portland Trailblazers, the minor-league Portland Beavers franchise and the Tournament Golf Foundation in a forum discussion on the benefits of holding major sporting events in Portland.
