Manning locks up top-ten start; Lavin 19th

Rodolfo Lavin (R), #5 Corona Competition Team Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

Lavin improved on his qualifying time from Saturday by four tenths of a second. Yesterday he posted a time of 38.803 (110.589 mph) in his Corona machine.

"I was on a faster lap when I made a little mistake going into Turn 6 which cost me three or four tenth right there. The Corona car was definitely much better for me today though. We ran through a series of changes on the chassis this morning and it paid off for us in qualifying. We finally found more grip. I have a good car for the race tomorrow though."

Fast Facts: Will be his fourth Champ Car start and first at Brands Hatch, Best Champ Car finish to date is 15th earned at the Monterrey Grand Prix (23 March)

Darren Manning (R), #15 Ford-Cosworth XFE-Reynard-Bridgestone

Manning's qualifying time of 37.565 (114.234 mph) posted during Saturday qualifying will stand, placing him eighth on the starting grid. The 28-year-old Yorkshireman posted a nearly identical time of 37.596 (114.140 mph) in Sunday's final qualifying round. An eighth place starting position marks a new career-best for Manning. It's his second consecutive top-ten start.

"I lost all the telemetry on my dashboard, so I didn't know what lap times I was doing at all. The car was a lot better balanced than yesterday. I was really, really happy with it. There's not much more time coming out of it, let's put it that way. I think we lost a little bit to the Lolas in this warmer weather. I'll be eighth on the grid. Hopefully we can get a few guys on the start. I know I can overtake in these cars and I know where to overtake here as well."

Fast Facts: Will be his fifth Champ Car start and fourth with Walker Racing, Started single-seater career at Brands Hatch running the Formula First Winter Series in 1992, Currently tenth in the drivers' championship and second in the Rookie of the Year battle, Earned career-best Champ Car finish of seventh at the Monterrey Grand Prix (23 March), Has earned three top-ten finishes in four starts
