Billy Kamphausen Undergoes Coronary Surgery

CART Assistant Vice President of Logistics & Assistant Technical Director Billy Kamphausen underwent successful coronary surgery Thursday night. He had been complaining of dizziness and a burning sensation and it is felt that it was simply a "heart event" rather than anything more serious. He is expected to be in the coronary care unit for the next few days and out of the hospital shortly thereafter to begin his recuperation.

Tim Mayer, Senior VP of Racing Operations issued a statement this morning about Kamphausen, "Dennis Swan and I visited him this morning. He is in very good hands at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Mi. which is a well-known local cardiac care facility. He is under mild sedation, to keep him from leaping up and re-organizing the entire hospital--apparently they know him well. Although he is tired and a little uncomfortable from all the attachments, he is in good spirits and predictably his biggest concern was to make sure that nothing fell through the cracks here at work."
