1999 Barber Dodge Pro Series runner up Todd Snyder topped the afternoon test session in a CART Dayton Indy Lights test at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Wednesday. He led a host of former Barber Dodge drivers in the Top 10 during a rain abbreviated afternoon session. Snyder’s time was just 0.1 sec off the fast time of the day, placing him second overall. Snyder is in his rookie season in the Dayton Indy Lights Series driving for Brian Stewart Racing.
“Today’s (Wed.) test was stellar,” said Snyder. “The team went to England recently to conduct a test on a 6-post test rig. We’re evaluating the data from that test on the track and we’ve gone quicker as a result of that test.
“My relationship with crew is good as we’re getting to know each other better and better,” Snyder went on. “I’m really looking forward to the next race at Milwaukee.”
Snyder was followed closely in the session by several other members of the Barber Dodge fraternity. Second quickest in the afternoon session was Townsend Bell, ahead of 1998-99 Barber Dodge Champ Jeff Simmons in third. Geoff Boss in fifth led Tony Renna in sixth with Geoff’s brother Andy ninth and Chris Menninga 10th.
“Wednesday’s test was good,” said 1999 Barber Dodge third-place finisher Townsend Bell. “I wasn’t completely happy with the car, but I was able to go reasonably fast. Last year’s experience of racing here with Barber Dodge really helped.”
Rain is forecast for today as well thus diminishing the opportunity to set a quicker time today.
