Heylen Scores Best Qualifying Result of the Season with Sixth Place Finish
He will start in seventh position for Sunday's race
In today's final qualifying session, Jan Heylen (#34 Grafiprint / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) was prepared to defend the unofficial lap record he performed in yesterday Qualifying warm up in a fierce battle to determine the starting grid for Sunday's Bavaria Champ Car Grand Prix of Holland. Hoping that the weather would hold out, Jan and his engineers decided to run the entire session on the Bridgestone red 'option' tires. This gamble paid off giving him more grip on the track and vaulted him to the top of the qualifying grid. He kept pushing hard for faster lap times and in the end, his determination paid of with a sixth position finish at the final qualifying session which will also give him his best starting position of the 2007 season.

"Overall, I'm happy with our sixth position finish today," said Jan. "I always look back and think that I could have done better but I stayed on the red tires for the entire session, got up to speed pretty quickly, posting a top six result. I think if we can take advantage of a good pit strategy and keep on pace with the leaders we can achieve a good result tomorrow and improve on our best yet sixth place finish from Elkhart Lake."
Eric Bachelart Quote
"We're happy to have that sixth position result after the rain-soaked provisional qualifying yesterday," said Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing Team Owner. "We keep on progressing with the car and the set up and all of the work put forth by Jan and the entire team really paid off. We are going to be finalizing a solid pit strategy tonight for the #34 car and look forward to taking advantage of our best starting position of the year. Weather could be a factor with the scattered showers we have been having so we'll just have to be prepared for any scenario."
