MCI WORLDCOM/ARCIERO-WELLS CHAMPIONSHIP CAR TEAM TESTS DRIVERS FOR 1999 SEASON

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. (October 28, 1998) - After speaking to and reviewing numerous candidates to drive the number 25 MCI WorldCom-sponsored Toyota-powered Championship Car for the 1999 season, the Arciero-Wells Championship Auto Racing Team confirmed it has completed testing Emanuele Naspetti and Cristiano da Matta at the Miami-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex in Homestead, Fla. Both drivers were tested on the oval and road course configurations.

Naspetti won the Italian Touring Championship in 1997 with the BMW Castrol Team with ten victories and three podium finishes. Da Matta has run away with the 1998 PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship and heads into the season finale with a series-leading four victories and three poles.

An announcement for the driver who will be competing in the MCI WorldCom entry in the 1999 FedEx Championship Series will be forthcoming shortly.
