SAO PAULO (April 29, 2012) – Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing (NNCGR) driver Charlie Kimball had a career-best finish of eighth in the Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 on the Streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The finish came in his 21st career IZOD IndyCar Series start and second at Sao Paulo, besting his previous career-best finish of 9th (St. Petersburg 2012, New Hampshire 2011.)

The Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi team ran an aggressive race, starting from 15th position and withstood incidents that caused five cautions totaling 15 laps on the 2.536-mile, 11-turn street circuit. Kimball held a top-10 position for 11 laps and ran as high as fourth. Kimball was forced into the wall on lap 30 by an on-track incident he was not involved in, which took the race to a full-course yellow and Kimball to the 19th position. With eight laps to go Kimball would advance four positions from 12th where he would hold his final position of eighth.

As a result, Kimball is now 15th in the IZOD IndyCar Series point standings with 68 markers, -112 points behind the leader.

Up next, Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing will compete in the Indianapolis 500 from Indianapolis on Sunday, May 27 (12:00 pm ET on ABC).

Charlie Kimball: “What a fun race. No corner went without some sort of contact. This was some very exciting racing. The Novo Nordisk team did a fantastic job today. We had an early set back but everyone kept focused and kept working. We had great pit stops and I'm happy to have the day we had here in Brazil. Now it is time to turn our attention to Indianapolis."
