Top-15 Run for Kimball at The Milwaukee Mile

Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing (NNCGR) driver Charlie Kimball finished 14th in the Milwaukee 225 at The Milwaukee Mile.

The No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog FlexPen Honda lined-up 21st for the 225-lap race and would quickly find a consistent spot inside the top-20. Kimball dodged on-track melee and utilized the “wave around” during the cautions to battle his way to 15th by lap 175. The Novo Nordisk team crossed the finish line in 14th-place, marking the third top-15 finish for the IZOD IndyCar Series rookie.

NNCGR Quoteboard

Charlie Kimball: “The No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog FlexPen car was quick all day. It took me the first half of the first stint to get up-to-speed with short track racing in an Indy car. We had really good pace when Dario Franchitti lapped me; I was able to work my way through traffic behind him and learn a lot. I have to thank Dario for teaching me some stuff because I was able to follow him and keep-up a really good pace. During the cautions, we were able to get the “wave around” and the Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing crew did a great job in pit lane. When the officials gave the wave around, I would come out of pit lane into the lead pack, so we never quite got our lap back. I spent most of the day right there, towards the front and learned a lot. We had a great race car and I’m excited to come back to the Mile next year.”
