Can Luyendyk spin 'Bachelorette' experience into sponsor dollars? staff

It came down to the final lap for Luyendyk Jr

Arie Luyendyk Jr was one of the final two bachelors that Emily Maynard would give her heart to on the popular ABC reality show, The Bachelorette. In season eight, the Indy car driver swept her off her feet on their first date, and continued to impress her with his charm.

He was instantly one of the fan favorites and one of Maynard’s first choices of the 25 men she was getting to know. On the final episode, it came down to Arie Luyendyk Jr and Jeff Holm, and the young man from Utah took the checkered flag. Luyendyk Jr headed back to his home in Arizona.

His time spent on the show might net him benefits. One of Luyendyk Jr’s wishes is to run a full season in the IZOD IndyCar Series. Like his father, Arie Luyendyk Sr, he is a race car driver. However, he is one of many who dream of the chance to be a top contender for the series title; more importantly for him is to earn the victory in the Indianapolis 500!

Like many racers in the modern era, it is vital that they bring along a sponsor or the needed backing of cash flow for a possible ride. That holds true even in the premier open-wheel series, Formula One. Sponsors are important in NASCAR and the sports car series as well. Finding the needed funds is a tough task in this day and age with the current economy woes

Being seen by many potential sponsors on the show, and gaining notoriety by taking Maynard for a ride a ride around the one mile oval Phoenix International Raceway in a two-seater Indy car. In 2002, Arie Luyendyk Jr finished second for the Indy Lights championship.

His recent television appearances is not the first time that Luyendyk Jr has been seen on national television – besides his racing, of course. He was one of the drivers who appeared as a driver analyst on the Versus broadcast for the Indy Lights events.

Plus for those who watch the Food Network channel, if they tuned into the ninth season of Hell’s Kitchen, Luyendyk Jr was on episode seven when the chefs attended one of the IndyCar events.

There is also a chance for Luyendyk to find love in one of the future seasons of The Bachelor. Perhaps his new gained notoriety will see him in an Indy car chasing for the championship, and perhaps drinking the milk at the end of the Indy 500.
