WEST ALLIS, Wis. – National Guard Panther Racing driver Ryan Briscoe finished 15th Saturday afternoon in the Milwaukee IndyFest held at this historic Milwaukee Mile. Briscoe started in the 18th position on the flat one-mile oval in his third start behind the wheel of Panther’s No. 4 Chevrolet.

The 31-year-old departed Milwaukee immediately after the race to head to France to compete in the historic 24 Hour of Le Mans endurance race with Level 5 Motorsports.

Briscoe started in the 18th position and had slipped one position and was running in 19th when the first caution of the race come out on Lap 21 after Simona de Silvestro made contact with wall in Turn Four.

The team elected to stay out as a large portion of mid-pack cars pitted, and Briscoe took the following restart on Lap 32 in the 13th position. Briscoe was able to climb up to 11th until the team had to make its second pit stop under green on Lap 67.

The green-flag run extended as the multiple strategies played out and eventual winner Ryan Hunter-Reay was able to catch and pass Briscoe to put the National Guard team a lap down.

Despite two great pit stops from the Panther pit crew, Briscoe was unable to return to the lead lap or make up any substantial ground from his eventual finishing position of 15th place.

Chevrolet drivers swept the podium with Andretti Autosport driver Ryan Hunter-Reay winning the event for a second consecutive year. The reining IndyCar Series champion was joined on the podium by Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves (2nd) and Will Power (3rd).

Ryan Briscoe, No. 4 National Guard Chevrolet: “The National Guard Chevy was handling pretty good for us, but the gears were a bit long, so that was hurting us as we tried to race people off the corner. But the Panther Racing crew did a great job in the pits all day.

We’re continuing to build on our continuity, and we’ll keep getting better working together. The plan is to race as many events in IndyCar as we can this year with Panther, so we’ll get them next time.”
