Aleshin suffers violent airborne wreck into catch fence at Fontana - Practice cancelled

Aleshin is conscious according to a release from IndyCar.

Russia IndyCar rookie Mikhail Aleshin has been transported to local hospital after a vicious crash. The remainder of practice has been cancelled following the four-car accident. Marco Andretti, Sebastien Bourdais and Charlie Kimball were also involved...all three of them reported to be okay.

Aleshin was airlifted to a local hospital, complaining of right shoulder and right foot pain.

The crash took place in turns three and four and Aleshin's car was sent flying into the catch fence, severely damaging it. A wheel is seen in the below photo caught in what is left of the fencing.

Safety workers tended to him while he sat in the car before he was transported to a local hospital. Marco Andretti told the Indy Star "I couldn't look (at Aleshin), I hope he's all right."
