Shanmugam joins the first JK Tyre win party

After Krishnaraj Mahadik earlier in the day, it was Ananth Shanmugam in the final race of the second JK Tyre weekend to pick up his maiden win of the championship at Kari Motor Speedway.

Bangalore-based driver Shanmugam started the final race of the weekend on pole and led every lap to claim his first victory in the JK Tyre series.

While Shanmugam had it easy at the front, behind him there was a battle for positions as Vishnu Prasad and Kush Maini fought wheel to wheel for second place.

Ultimately, Prasad held on to finish second while Maini dropped places to fifth. Prasad also took the fastest lap honours with a lap of 1m04.838s.

National Racing champion Karthik Tharani finished a fine third in all the battles with Italy's Costantino Peroni fourth.

BRDC F4 driver Akhil Rabindra showed his own self in the second race but had a disappointing finish in the final race managing only ninth in the end.

After winning the morning race, Krishna Mahadik had a struggle in the final race finishing seventh as Dhruv Mohite suffered yet another retirement.
