Mahadik grabs double pole for JK Tyre weekend

In an extraordinary turn of events, Bangalore-based driver Krishnaraj Mahadik took his maiden pole of the JK Tyre season at the Kari Motor Speedway.

It was a closely fought qualifying which saw the top 10 drivers within a second of each other as Mahadik's time of 1m04.639s was enough to hand him pole for the first race of the weekend.

F3 racer Arjun Maini's younger brother Kush was 0.501s away from Mahadik as he slots in at second to start the race from the front row.

Last weekend's race two winner Vishnu Prasad ended third while fresh from National Racing Championship win, Karthik Tharani was fourth.

The top five was completed by Ananth Shanmugam while championship leader Akhil Rabindra only managed seventh.

Italy's Costantino Peroni was eighth as the only International driver among the 12-driver field.

Mahadik will also start the second race on pole as his second-best time of the session was 0.266s ahead of second place Prasad who leapfrogged Maini in the process.

The polesitter for race one and two was the only driver to dip into the 1m04s bracket among all.

Race one will start 14:05 local time.
