Coimbatore JK Tyre: Prasad charges from sixth to win Race 3
Vishnu Prasad rocketed from sixth on the grid to make it three wins in a row in the JK Tyre Racing Championship at Kari Motor Speedway on Sunday.
When the lights went out, Vikash Anand comfortably led the field from pole position, with fellow front-row starter Akash Gowda following behind in second place.
Further up the road, yesterday’s double winner Prasad was steadily making his way up the pack, taking advantage of a slow start for Anindith Reddy to move up to fifth.
On the second lap, he blasted past Nayan Chatterjee at turn 2 before reeling in Ricky Donison for P3.
At this stage of the race, Anand looked in control of the race, having established a comfortable buffer out front.
But a mistake at the final corner pushed him off the track, making him vulnerable to both Gowda and Prasad on the start/finish straight.
Unsurprisingly, there were both able to jump past the Chennai-based born driver into turn 1, with Gowda now emerging as the new race leader.
However, the former F4 SEA driver’s stint at the front didn’t last for too long, with Prasad able to slip by him a few laps later to take the lead.
Despite a late race safety car to recover the stranded car of Ashwin Datta, Prasad held on to his position comfortably to make it three wins out of three in Euro JK.
Gowda crossed the line in second, with Anand having to settle for second place after his error.
Reddy was able to recover enough from his slow start to finish fourth, but was unable to continue his podium streak.
Multiple Euro JK race winner Nayan Chatterjee completed the top five.
