Bahrain MRF Challenge: Schumacher doubles up with Race 4 win
Mick Schumacher doubled up at Bahrain with victory in the final race of the opening round of the Indian international championship MRF Challenge.
The German driver had a terrific getaway to take the lead from front-row starter Juri Vips, while reverse grid pole-sitter Moraes Cardoso was down to third.
Behind, it was a battle between Joey Mawson and European F3 regular Ralf Aron for fourth and they were soon joined by Harrison Newey, who made up eight places to sixth in the opening few laps.
Up ahead, Schumacher had his lead intact with Italian F4 rookie champion Vips unable to mount a challenge, while Cardoso was soon under threat from Mawson.
The Australian, having fended off Aron, had Cardoso in his grasp and went for a move on the Brazilian but soon went off track, thus dropping himself out of contention for the final podium slot.
Meanwhile, Newey managed to go past Aron at Turn 1 on Lap 4 to move into the top five and later was gifted fourth after Mawson's mistake.
Aron recovered to challenge Newey for fourth, but was unable to close in ending up fifth, as Schumacher took his second win of the weekend, while Vips and Cardoso claimed their respective maiden podiums.
Mawson finished sixth eventually, just managing to stay ahead of German Kimi Schramm - the duo separated by a mere 0.530s over the line.
At the back, Brazilian Felipe Drugovich lost five places to finish eighth, fending off the change from Australia's Dylan Young, as Yoshiaki Katayama rounded off the top 10.
