Balakrishnan, Kannan win two-hour endurance race in Chennai


The Chennai duo of Aravind Balakrishnan and Kevin Kannan claimed top honours in the MMSC Motorcycle Endurance Race at the Madras Motor Race Track on Sunday.
The Honda-sponsored event served as a successor to last year’s AVT Million Endurance race and ran for two hours in the Chennai heat, with the top runners managing to complete 53 laps of the 3.7 km circuit during the said time duration.
Balakrishnan and Kannan topped the CBR250 class and also secured the overall crown, winning total cash prizes of Rs 80,000 for their success.
2018 Honda CBR250 champion Abhishek Vasudev and ex-Asia Road Racing rider Anish Shetty finished a close second, while former Suzuki Asia Challenge race winner Prabhu Arunagiri and Anup Kumar rounded out the podium slots.
Meanwhile, Ajai Xavier and Amarnath Rajan were declared winners in the Stock 165cc that was limited to riders under the age of 23.
They beat second-placed riders Abhimanyu Gautam and AS Alexander as well as third-placed Akshay V Murali and Nithin S.
