Kumar, Balakrishnan take AVT Million Endurance win
Honda Ten10 Racing pairing of Mathana Kumar and Aravind Balakrishnan claimed overall win in the AVT Gold Cup Million Endurance Race at the Madras Motor Race Track on Sunday.
A first of its kind for most competitors, the Endurance Race lasted just over 90 minutes - twice the timespan of a typical MotoGP race.
All podium finishers managed to complete 41 laps during the said time frame, showing how closely matched the sharp end of the field was.
Kumar and Balakrishnan took the top honours, beating Apex Racing duo of Kishor VS and Antony Peter by just 19.138s. Sethil Kumar and AS Alexander finished third, ensuring a double podium finish for Ten10 Racing.
“I think, our strategy worked well today,” Kumar, who took the victory astride a Honda CBR 250, said.
“I went out first, built up a lead which my teammate Aravind maintained. On my second run, I suffered from cramps, but somehow, I managed to complete my turn, and then Aravind finished well for victory,”
P Sai Sahil and G Vikas Kumar won in the Pro-stock (301-400cc) class, while the Pro-Stock (130-165cc) win went to Yashas RL and K Kannan. Finally, Aditya Rao Immaneni and Karthik were the victors in the Stock (130-165cc) category.
