Chennai TVS Apache 200: Kannan doubles up with commanding wins

Kannan K was dominant to take two wins in the TVS RTR Apache 200 one-make championship's second round at Madras Motor Race Track.

Kannan took control of the proceedings in Race 1 taking a lights-to-flag win over Vivek Pillai by 5.297s in the six lap race on Saturday.

Abode the TVS RTR Apache 200cc in the Open category, Kannan had pole, being the only rider to dip into the 2m10’s.

Behind the leaders, completing the podium was Arvind Ganesh, who made up two places in the race after third placed starter Prashanth Kumar retired in the opening lap.

The fight for podium was on with Ganesh managing to fend off fourth placed Hari Prakash, who gained three places from seventh on the grid.

T Ramakrishnan finished a distant fifth ahead of Rahil Peerzade, who also made up three places, keeping John Paul at bay by a mere 0.112s margin.

Praveen Kumar at eighth was the biggest gainer with six places, while Naveen Raj and L Vignesh completed the top 10 among the 12 Indian finishers.

In the Novice category, Yuvaraj S won the race from Yashas RL and Kamran Alam.

Kannan takes second win

The Chennai-based rider maintained dominance taking win in Race 2 on Sunday over Pillai. But it was closer than Saturday's race with mere 0.957s separating the two.

It was back and forth but Kannan fended off the pressure just to win, as Ganesh finished third in a photo finish with Prakash only 0.030s behind in fourth.

Ramakrishnan was fifth with Kumar sixth, making up eight places having started 14th and last for the second race.

Peerzade finished seventh ahead of Praveen Kumar with the trio Sofyyan Ahmed, Paul and Raj finishing within 0.270s of each other - Ahmed beating the two. 

In Race 2 in Novice, Yashas took the win from Aditya Rao Immaneni while Alam completed the podium.
