In the opening race, Sethu took the winning honours after making a last lap lunge on Mathana Kumar.

Sethu was involved in a three-way battle with Mathana and Hari Krishnan since the start of the race, with the latter dropping out as the it progressed.

Mathana and Sethu - now in a battle of their own - traded positions lap-after-lap, before the latter settled the fight with a last lap move over Mathana.

Behind the top, Mithun Kumar secured the final spot on the podium, while Abhishek V and Ananth Raj completed the top five.

Krishnan, meanwhile, dropped down from third to eighth on the final lap, behind Anish D Shetty and Ami van Poederooijen.

Amarnath Menon and Abhay Prashan were classified ninth and tenth, with less than two tenths separating the two.

Menon was classified fourth, nearly seven seconds adrift of the surviving lead pack, with Sanjeev M Hatre finishing fifth.
