Hour 23: ESM in the catbird seat for sprint to the finish

Extreme Speed Motorsports driver Pipo Derani is back in front of the Rolex 24 field.

Hour 23: ESM in the catbird seat for sprint to the finish
#44 Magnus Racing Audi R8 LMS: John Potter, Andy Lally, Marco Seefried, René Rast
#90 VisitFlorida.com Racing Corvette DP: Marc Goossens, Ryan Dalziel, Ryan Hunter-Reay
#10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP: Ricky Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Max Angelelli, Rubens Barrichello
#911 Porsche Team North America Porsche 911 RSR: Nick Tandy, Patrick Pilet, Kevin Estre

During the penultimate hour at Daytona, despite being struck by a penalty, Derani was able to run Ricky Taylor down from several seconds back and overtake him with ease.

Both teams made their pit stops within a few minutes of each other and Michael Shank Racing opted to switch Ricky out for his brother Jordan. The No. 90 Visit Florida DP assumed the lead until he too pitted for the second-to-last time.

Jordan is within ten seconds of the Ligier and one more set of stops remain for the front-runners.

As for the other classes, Earl Bamber has the No. 911 Porsche out in front of the GTLM field with #4 Corvette of Oliver Gavin closing him down.

The No. 85 JDC-Miller ORECA has essentially secured the PC win, pending any unforeseen issues. Rene Rast is leading GTD for Magnus Racing, but he is far from safe with Swan Racing within striking distance.
