Hour 17: Wayne Taylor Racing rises with the sun

17 hours down, seven more to go at Daytona.

The Visit Florida Daytona Prototype enjoyed another short stint in front of the field before the Taylor DP displaced them.

A car on the move has been Extreme Speed Motorsports. Scott Sharp got back on the lead lap and started marching through the top five, reaching the second position by the end of the hour.

Incident-wise, it was a fairly clean sixty minutes. The 18th full-course yellow of the race (the same as 2015 race) was for a stranded Ford GT. The No. 67 had stalled off track in Turn 1, further adding to a plethora of problems for the new machines.

The Corvette/Porsche battle rages on in GTLM with the No. 911 Porsche of Nick Tandy having the edge at this point in the race. In PC, ten laps separate the leading No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports ORECA and the rest of the field. Patrick Long and the Black Swan Racing team have made their way to the front of the GTD field, enjoying a 13-second lead at the moment.

As the 18th hour got underway, the leaders dove down pit road to kick off another round of pit stops.
