Hour 10: Reliability woes strike dominant MSR at midnight

Drama in the tenth hour as Michael Shank Racing's Rolex 24 endeavor was dealt a massive blow.

Hour 10: Reliability woes strike dominant MSR at midnight

The tenth safety car intervention was needed with the No. 26 BAR1 PC needed assistance. The ensuing restart was fairly clean as Michael Shank Racing took off with the lead once again.

That most recent FCY was needed to retrieve none other than the leading Michael Shank Racing Ligier. With Ozz Negri at the wheel, the car had lost all power, dumping oil on the circuit, suffering an apparent engine failure. Scott Sharp led the field back to green in the Extreme Speed Motorsports P2.

However, he would not stay there either. Scott Pruett was handed P1 when race officials called Sharp to the pits, holding him for a full lap for reportedly blowing through a red light on pit road.

At the end of the hour, Pruett held a very slight advantage over Max Angelelli in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP. PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is comfortably out front of the PC field with a several lap margin back to second. John Edwards in the No. 100 BMW controls the GTLM field while the No. 22 Alex Job Racing Porsche heads GTD.
