Former ALMS champion Jon Field sentenced to prison

Jon Field is going to have to serve a prison sentence for tax evasion.

Jon Field, the 2005 ALMS P2 champion, has been sentenced to five months and seven days of prison after pleading guilty to ' conspiracy to commit crimes against the United States.' To be more specific, he   falsified income tax returns and underreported the amount of income he earned between 2006 and 2010.

He led the privateer Intersport Racing team, which won at the P1 and P2 levels during its tenure. The team existed for 15 years, ending its participation in American sports car racing at the conclusion of 2011.

Intersport also took home the LMP2 class honors in the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Along with the prison sentence, Fieldwill be put on probation for three years and have to serve three months of home confinement, as well as pay $174,458 in restitution.

His brother Joel will be sentenced on November 6th.
