Daytona 24 Hours: Hr18 – Barbosa leads, Ford fights back
The Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R had answered everything that rivals, nature and fate could throw at it, until a pitstop under full course yellow saw Action Express turn around its #5 car faster and into the lead.

Ricky Taylor had his daddy’s Caddy almost a minute in front of the similar car of Joao Barbosa until a full-course caution for a huge piece of PC debris lying in the middle of the track. That bunched the field back up and prompted a flurry of pitstops, in which AXR did a slightly better job than WTR, which took on Max Angelelli as replacement for Taylor.
The #90 Riley Multimatic of Renger Van Der Zande had genuinely closed on Taylor while running second until being hit with a penalty for blowing the Bus Stop chicane too many times.
IMSA’s race director Beaux Barfield has now informed all teams that there will not be any tolerance shown for those errors. Van Der Zande paid the price and dropped to third, still a lap ahead of Scott Sharp’s ESM Nissan. Jonathan Bomarito is fifth in the #55 Mazda RT24-P.
GT Le Mans
Patrick Pilet had started to show signs of cracking with a wild moment at Turn 1 in the #911 Porsche as Sebastien Bourdais closed in, driving the #66 Ford GT. Following pitstops, Bourdais had the edge, with Jan Magnussen second in the #3 Corvette, and Pilet in third.
Toni Vilander has got the Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 well in the mix, so that during the pitstop sequence ahead of Laurens Vanthoor in the second Porsche.
GT Daytona
Ryan Hunter-Reay leads an Acura NSX 1-2, ahead of Andy Lally. Third is Adam Christodoulou in the #33 Riley Mercedes-AMG, with Matt Bell in the Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8.
