Date, site of TUDOR Championship banquet announced

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced today that the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta will be the venue for the TUDOR Night of Champions on Monday, Oct. 5.

The TUDOR Night of Champions is the culmination of the championship weekend for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda. The 10-hour Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda marks the conclusion of both the TUDOR Championship and Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup seasons.

The Georgia Aquarium – the largest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere – features the Oceans Ballroom, a banquet hall unlike any other in that it allows guests a face-to-face experience with the aquarium’s marquee whale shark and beluga habitats. TUDOR Night of Champions guests will have exclusive views of the aquarium.

“Moving the TUDOR Night of Champions to the Georgia Aquarium offers IMSA an opportunity to truly have its own championship weekend focused around the prestigious Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda,” said IMSA President Scott Atherton. “Beginning with the Continental Tire Challenge finale and awards Friday night, our stakeholders and fans will have a number of unique events to celebrate another successful season, along with our TUDOR Championship and Patrón Endurance Cup champions.”

Four classes honored

The TUDOR Night of Champions will honor driver, team and manufacturer champions from the four TUDOR Championship classes: Prototype (P), GT Le Mans (GTLM), Prototype Challenge (PC) and GT Daytona (GTD). Championship-winning drivers in each class will be awarded a specially engraved TUDOR Grantour Fly-Back timepiece marking the championship year and class category.

Each class champion also will receive replicas of the Bishop-France Award, which was unveiled last year. The perpetual trophy, which has been inscribed with the names of all class champions dating back to the IMSA’s founding in 1969, is on permanent display in IMSA’s Daytona Beach headquarters.

In addition to honoring champions in the TUDOR Championship, Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup winners also will be recognized.

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge wraps up its season at Road Atlanta on Friday, Oct. 2. That evening, Braselton’s Chateau Élan Winery & Resort will host the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Awards for the second year, honoring drivers, teams and manufacturers in both the Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST) classes.

Among the additional events scheduled throughout the weekend is the Petit Le Mans Pro-Am Golf Tournament held Sunday, Oct. 4, benefiting the Austin Hatcher Foundation. The tournament provides participants the unique opportunity to play the prestigious and private Legends course at Chateau Elan along with some of their motorsports heroes.

Information on tickets and hotel accommodations for both awards celebrations will be available later this summer on IMSA.com.
