If you see the Corvette C7 Stingray in the new Corvette Daytona Prototype, then you would be correct. The 2015 version of the car will take on some of the features that can be seen on the C7.

We can expect the Corvette teams to put the new look to the test in the annual 'Roar Before the Rolex' from January 9th to 11th, just a couple weeks before the iconic 24 hour event.

The Corvette DP has enjoyed a successful tenure in the TUDOR United/Grand-Am Series, winning 22 races, including the 2014 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Action Express captured the championship this past season with Corvette.

Chevrolet Statement

“The relationship Chevrolet’s racing programs have to our auto production lines is extremely important. That relevance of race car to showroom is a hallmark of our racing heritage,” said Mark Kent in the official release, Chevrolet Director of Racing. “The success of the Corvette Daytona Prototype program is a point of pride for Chevrolet. Having the Corvette C7 DP competing for overall victories enhances the perception of the Corvette brand and allows America’s sports car to compete for overall victories in North America’s most important endurance events.”

Changes in the design

Chevrolet also gave some detailed insight into some of the upgrades to the design. The frontal area sees a striking change in design from the previous generation Corvette DP, including updates to the hood surface, headlights and radiator inlet area. The rear window area also has been updated. At the rear of the car, the Corvette DP will take styling cues from the C7 including the rear taillights.
