Briton Sam Bird heads to Starworks

The 26-year-old will likely drive the team's PC car.

Young talent Sam Bird has signed a deal to race with Starworks Motorsport for the Daytona 24 Hours, Sebring 12 Hours and Petit Le Mans in 2014, the team announced on their website on Sunday.

The 2013 GP2 championship runner-up and Mercedes F1 test driver will pilot one of the team's PC entries.

“I’m looking forward to working with a driver like Sam who brings a lot of experience with him from some big teams and can contribute heavily to our program,” said team owner Peter Baron. “We’ll have more to announce on which car he’ll be driving and our full lineup soon,” he told Racer.com.
