Action Express Racing have been working hard to prepare for the new challenges of 2015.
Denver, NC - The 2014 IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship Season was one to remember for Action Express Racing. Winning the 52nd Annual Rolex 24 at Daytona was only the beginning of a championship, three win season for the North Carolina based team. Despite the enormous success the team experienced in 2014, they have not dwelt on the season that was; they have been racing toward the season that will be in 2015.
Since the conclusion of the 2014 season the team members of Action Express Racing have been working hard to prepare for the new challenges of 2015.
Living so close to Daytona International Speedway I'm always thinking about the next Rolex 24,
Action Express will return to the track at Daytona International Speedway on Friday morning for the first of eight scheduled sessions over three days. The 'Roar' will mark the second visit to the "World Center of Racing" in a month for the team, the first to include both the Action Express No. 5 and the Whelen Engineering No. 31 on the high banks of Daytona at the same time.
"The 'Roar' is always a great opportunity to for us to get our final tweaks in," added Nelson. "We always look forward to getting back on track and comparing our lap times to our competition."
For Action Express Racing driver João Barbosa, a two time overall winner of the Rolex 24, the 'Roar Before the 24' is a special event in itself.
"Living so close to Daytona International Speedway I'm always thinking about the next Rolex 24," said Barbosa. "I don't think you can ever win that race enough to be satisfied, but getting into position for a strong run in the Rolex 24 all starts with solid preparation and adjustments made during the 'Roar'.
In addition to Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Sébastien Bourdais will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 Action Express Corvette C7, while Eric Curran, Dane Cameron, Max Papis and Sunoco Whelen Challenge Champion Phil Keen will pilot the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Corvette C7.
