Eric Van Cleef will be bringing his Red Line Oil/ Toyota Motorsports Toyota Supra and Supra Turbo to Road Atlanta, one of his favorite tracks, for the Napa Auto Parts Grand Prix of Atlanta 3 hour SPEEDVISION CUP Stock SportsCar race. He and co-driver Chuck Goldsborough will go for their second consecutive Grand Sports win in the #88 Supra Turbo; they won the 5 hour race in Sebring, Florida last month. Meanwhile, Bob Henderson and new team driver Andrew Wehe will share the naturally aspirated #84 Sports class Supra. Van Cleef and Henderson placed first and second, respectively, in the 1996 Sports class Points Standings. Wehe, the new driver, won the SCORE off-road Class 10 Championship in 1996 with several race wins, including the Baja 1000. He has now decided to try asphalt racing. Goldsborough teamed with Van Cleef to start on the pole at the season opener in Daytona and the win at Sebring. Road Atlanta has been the site of countless sports car wins for Van Cleef as he worked his way through the ranks, including a national championship. He has raced there regularly for over 10 years, and currently holds the Sports class track record which he set on the way to the pole at this event last year. The three hour SPEEDVISION Cup Stock SportsCar race will begin on Saturday, April 19, at 2:45 PM.
Van Cleef Racing, in conjunction with Motorsports Ministries, will serve a complimentary pancake breakfast early Saturday morning in the Fitzgerald Park area. All are welcome. For more information, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
