Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg take controversial win in Daytona

#96 BMW has been excluded from todays race result, meaning Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg take the win in the Fall-Line Motorsports entry

IMSA announced that a technical violation on the #96 BMW at the end of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race cause organizer to exclude that car from the finishing order.

The announcement was made via Twitter:

“The #96 car originally scored as today’s #CTSCC GS winner has been excluded due to a technical infraction. The #48 is declared the winner. Because of the exclusion of the #96 entry, each car will move up one position in the finishing order.”

This promotes the Fall-Line Motorsports entry of Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg to the top of the podium.

No specifics on the infraction were given.

This means that Daytona International Speedway has crowned its first female winner in the tracks history, after Freiberg was promoted to the win. It was her first CTSCC start.
